Brezhnev serves as Lwala’s External Affairs Specialist, driving inclusive health initiatives at national and county levels. His work centers on integrating eye health into Primary Health Care, advancing policies for affordable eyeglasses, and mainstreaming disability inclusion, through collaboration with County Governments, Ministry of Health, Council of Governors and other stakeholders. Previously at The Action Foundation, Brezhnev led policy, research and advocacy on inclusive education and health. He has also worked with UNICEF Headquarters (New York), Amnesty International, Twaweza East Africa, World Vision and Plan International, bringing over 13 years of experience championing maternal health, disability rights, and governance in Kenya. He holds a PhD in Social Transformation (Sustainable Development Specialization) from Tangaza University, where his research examined disability, sexuality, and maternal health. Outside of work, Brezhnev is a retired (but not tired) rugby player and ardent fan as well as community leader. “When evidence and community voices guide our health systems, policy becomes truly transformative,” he says.
