Christine Aoko Odongo is Lwala’s Clinical Services Coordinator, responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of services offered at Lwala Community Hospital. Originally from neighboring Homa Bay County, Christine worked as a nurse in Kenyatta National Hospital on the University of Washington’s Mama Salama study, and she also worked at Kijabe Hospital as a medical/surgical nurse. She holds a nursing diploma from AIC Kijabe School of Nursing and is currently pursuing her degree in Nursing at The University of Nairobi. She joined Lwala in 2014 as a nurse for our Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT) program, which monitors HIV-exposed children for 18 months after birthIn 2017, Christine was promoted to the Head of Nursing. “At Lwala, it’s easy to experience professional growth,” she says. “Over the years I’ve seen growth in myself, in my team members, and in the hospital.
