Dr. Hermes Gichane is a Public Health Physician and Health Systems Leader with over 15 years of experience strengthening health systems and translating evidence into policy and practice across Kenya. She currently serves as Senior Manager, Community Health at LWALA where she provides strategic leadership for community health programming across multiple counties.
Prior to joining LWALA, she served as a Technical Advisor to Kenya's Ministry of Health, where she contributed to national policy development, implementation frameworks, and health systems initiatives spanning adolescent health, HIV prevention, and gender-based violence. She has also provided strategic advisory support through Evidence & Beyond, helping governments and development partners translate research into scalable programmes and strengthen organizational learning.
Beyond her institutional roles, Dr. Gichane contributes to national and regional health leadership through technical advisory platforms, including UNICEF's Regional Think Tank supporting knowledge exchange and policy dialogue across Eastern and Southern Africa. She holds a Master of Science in Health Economics and Policy from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy and Programming from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
She is passionate about building resilient, equitable health systems that bridge policy, evidence, and community realities to improve health outcomes at scale and create lasting impact.
