Merete Cowles serves as Communications & Partnerships Officer at Lwala, where she combines creative design, thoughtful storytelling, and partnership cultivation to grow the organization’s global visibility and strengthen the relationships that sustain its community-led impact. She began working with Lwala as a Princeton in Africa Fellow in 2024, joining an international cohort of emerging leaders committed to social impact and ethical engagement on the continent. Prior to Lwala, she worked across health and international development with CARE’s Humanitarian Affairs team, the Refugee Women’s Centre in Calais, France, and the Institute for Family Health in Amman, Jordan. Passionate about the intersection of health and culture, Merete holds degrees in Health & Society and Anthropology from the University of Vermont with a certificate in Global Health. She remains committed to ensuring that the communities driving change are at the center of the stories that inspire action.
