Lwala’s community-led health model is built on three pillars: community health workers (CHWs) who extend care to every home, community committees that lead local health initiatives and hold health systems accountable, and health facilities that advance dignified, patient-centered care. This model unlocks the potential of communities to advance their own comprehensive well-being.
Data and policy advocacy underpin these pillars–and drive Lwala’s work to change health systems. We monitor our programming, partner with leading universities to undertake research, and collaborate with communities to uncover solutions to health problems. Using our evidence and experience, we bridge the gap between communities and policymakers–ensuring that local solutions are translated into policies that improve health for all Kenyans.
