In her role as Development Officer, Lauren manages stewardship of a portfolio of Lwala's partnerships with foundations and impact investors, and she is responsible for refining our grants management systems. She is from Shreveport Lousiana and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Masters of Education in Community Development & Action from Vanderbilt University, with a certificate in Latin American studies. Lauren offers nearly 10 years of nonprofit experience. Prior to joining Lwala, she worked in Haiti with Kore Timoun, a maternal and child nutrition organization, building out their monitoring & evaluation system. She also worked with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition supporting the policy & advocacy team on local and state campaigns. Lauren began her journey with Lwala as a master’s student at Vanderbilt. She walked into the Lwala office seeking collaboration on a student project for a global health class and never left. During this first collaboration, Lauren fell in love with the Community Health Worker model, continued on with Lwala as a summer intern, and she then was hired to join the team as the US Executive Assistant / Office Manager. A year later she was promoted to Development Officer. Lauren’s work and passion for women’s health and systems change are in honor of her mother and grandmother.
